Press Pillay Agency Head Named Toronto Public Library Entrepreneur-in-Residence
Nesh Pillay to support newcomer entrepreneurs through Toronto Public Libraries
Press Pillay founder, Nesh Pillay, has been selected to be an entrepreneur-in-residence for the Toronto Public Library.
In this role, Pillay will meet, mentor, and advise newcomer entrepreneurs. She will also be responsible for selecting a business to be admitted to the mentorship program and designing workshops and events over the nine-week residency.
In 2015, more than half of Toronto’s startups had a foreign-born founder. That number is expected to rise as Toronto continues to be a hub for entrepreneurs from around the globe.
“I’m a foreign-born founder myself, so I feel a special connection to Canada’s newcomers,” said Pillay. “My mentors have helped build my successes, and so I hope to pay it forward.”
Pillay will begin the residency this fall, but will continue her role within the agency.
